Good taste on its way

Some of the best tasting kiwifruit in years is on its way to overseas markets, with about 30 per cent of the total export volume shipped, says Zespri spokesperson Megan Heffield.
The dry summer resulted in smaller early season fruit overall, but fruit size has really picked up, says Megan.

Approximately 30 per cent of the kiwifruit to be exported this year has departed.

"We are confident of achieving a favourable size profile across the 2010 season.
"The dry summer also means we are producing some of the best tasting fruit in years, due to the high dry matter content.
"Early feedback from Zespri's overseas markets is that our kiwifruit is of excellent eating quality, with fantastic taste."
Twenty-four ships have already departed for overseas markets, with another 38 currently scheduled for the remainder of the season.
