Angela’s top winter fashion tips

Deep red colours, stripes, and animal and graphic prints are styles dressing up this season's winter wardrobe.

I visited Bayfair Shopping Centre fashion stylist Angela Beatson at the centre's ‘Winter Fashion Zone' this week to find out what colours are best suited to certain complexions, what cut of jeans best enhance a woman's features, and whether there really is such a thing as ‘too much black' in an outfit.

Angela's favourite thing about winter is the fashion – and I could tell.

She truly has a knack for putting together a great winter wardrobe with some staple essentials.

'This winter we will see a lot of deep reds coming through, which will act as a great pop of colour against those dark grey days,” says Angela.

'Stripes, animal and graphic prints are also going to play a key role in wardrobes this season.”

Meeting Angela for the first time, I must admit my eyes immediately scanned her outfit. Wearing all of the right colours that perfectly complemented her complexion, making her skin glow – Angela looked stunning.

This made me feel somewhat nervous about my outfit. What did she think? Did she think I was completely clueless with fashion?

My nerves settled when she pointed out she was wearing the same blazer as me.

Leading me to the colour chart, Angela held up a few colours – including a surprising mustard coloured top – and informed me my colour was ‘autumn'.

Earthy colours and rusty reds are what I should be wearing, she tells me.

'Think of the season.”

Next I'm led to the chart that identifies what ‘fruit' shape my body is. I am a pear – 'a petite pear,” says Angela, who tells me my perfect outfit is something that flows on the bottom and is fitted on the top to show off my ‘assets'.

To find out what colours to wear this winter and what fruit shape you are head to Bayfair today and tomorrow for an Angela styling session.
