BOP Labour candidate named

Clare Wilson has been selected as the Bay of Plenty Labour Party candidate for the 2014 general election.

Clare was named as the candidate at a selection meeting at the Arataki Community Centre on Sunday in an uncontested selection process.

Clare Wilson will run for the Bay of Plenty seat at this year's general election.

The Bay of Plenty Local Electorate Committee Chair Carol Devoy-Heena was 'delighted” with the result and the BOP LEC team is looking forward to an invigorating campaign, says Clare.

The new candidate says she is ‘ready to work' and looks forward to continuing to serve the people she lives with.

'This is my community. My friends, Whanau – my people… that's what we are basing our campaign on – community connections, and links to the real issues

My biggest strength has always been people.

'I will always put the needs of people before politics. It's what the Bay of Plenty community needs, and it's what I've spent my life doing.”

The current Bay of Plenty MP Tony Ryall recently announced he will not be running for the BOP electorate in this year's general election. A National Party candidate is yet to be decided.

No real change in direction just the usual suspects with a change of the window dressing.

Can't be a Labour candidate. She looks too lovely to be a lessy. What a waste!

At least with Labour we get back to budget surpluses every year, not over $50 billion of borrowing that we have had under National. John Key, the $50 billion man, if re-elected will take it as a mandate to continue to borrow and spend, just like the Tauranga City Council did before 2014.
