Tauranga MP Simon Bridges says Turners and Growers have exasperated kiwifruit growers by trying to undermine New Zealand's trade policy.
Trade Minister Tim Groser has become involved after allegations Turners and Growers had been responsible for the World Trade Organisation lodging a question over Turner and Growers' court action against Zespri's single desk exporting arrangement.
Simon says it is an extremely serious matter to have a New Zealand business acting against the interests of the country.
'I have been speaking to kiwifruit growers over the last couple of days and they are telling me the kiwifruit industry under Zespri has an improving performance and outstanding outlook ahead which they don't want to lose.”
Zespri chief executive officer Lain Jager alleged Turners was behind the fuss and brought the issue to the notice of the minister. However, Zespri is now not commenting other than to thank the minister for his support and repeating their allegation that this is part of Turner's campaign against the Single Point of Entry.

I thought the Nats stood for free enterprise. Well, when it suits I guess.
