Urban and rural animal loving children can get in touch with country life, thanks to the relaunch of the rural website, www.calfclub.co.nz
Five year old Lexi Crengle was the proud winner of the Livestock Improvement Corporation (LIC) Special Award Ribbon at Lake Rerewhakaaitu School in the Bay of Plenty.
The website was initially launched in 2003 to provide rural schools and children with information on the selection, care and training of calves and lambs for calf club. Now it has been relaunched.
"The calf club website puts children in the driving seat at the busiest time in the dairying calendar – calving,” says website author Clare Bayly.
"The website has been a hit, with thousands of children going online each year for help with their pets and to download the electronic dairy to record progress."
