Submissions from the public concerning the proposed Maori college at Bethlehem begin today at the Tauranga City Council offices.
The three day hearing is over the Ministry of Education's application to designate about eight hectares of land at Bethlehem for education purposes.
The Ministry made its case yesterday. Today independent commissioner Greg Hill begins hearing those speaking for the 85 submissions opposing the school and the 41 in support.
The Maori language high school is expected to have a maximum of 350 students.
Tauranga City Council planners support the recommendation with some conditions.
