Climates of interest

Over 5000 households have responded to the survey sent out by Tauranga MP Simon Bridges.
'At over 5400 surveys returned in the Tauranga electorate, I'm really humbled by the extremely high level of reply.
I'm told that this level of return in an electorate is one of the highest ever.

This is great because it means the results are more reflective of our community's views and I will be able to place more weight on them,” says Simon.
The survey reveals 48 per cent of respondents think the government is doing enough to help New Zealander's in the current economic climate and 93 per cent support tougher sentences for violent and drug offenders.
Around 59 per cent of respondents also believe human activity is contributing in some way to climate change and 69 per cent are happy with proposed changes to Resource Management Act.
'Probably the most interesting result to me is on climate change. I am happy to say I agree with both these views. I have often wondered how Tauranga feels on this issue as I get a lot of people giving me a broad range of views,” says Simon.

That is quite a response Simon. So if enough people say that something is true then it must be true, right? It is hardly surprising that 59% of your respondents believe in AGW, they ve been bombarded with the official , consensus line on TV news and newspapers for 10 years now; your boss John Boy Key doesn t really know what he believes on the issue and will swing his view towards which way the electoral warm or cold wind is blowing. I m sure these same 59% of respondents would have answered the same way when Y2K was the goblin of the year . I saw your survey of false alternatives and decided to re write some of the questions for you, and answered those; what did you think?
