Mount Maunganui Primary School students are saving a lifetime of memories encased in a time capsule that will not be uncovered for another 50 years.
Students and teachers, adorned in timely turn of the century costume, gathered together to bury the capsule beneath the entrance to the school on Wednesday, ahead of this weekend's centenary celebrations.

Deputy principal Hadleigh Benson says the capsule contains records of students' school work, photographs and other reminders of the year's happenings.
'Anything we think will capture what it's like in 2013.”
Concealed under the school's front sign, Hadleigh anticipates the capsule will not be uncovered until the school's next centenary celebrations – perhaps its 125th or 150th birthday.
The primary's time capsule is registered with the International Time Capsule Society.
Centennial festivities begin with a school-wide celebration from midday tomorrow, followed by a formal opening of celebrations at 10.30am on Saturday. This will be followed by a dinner, guest speakers, dancing and a live band at Classic Flyers.
