A steady stream of cars has turned up at Baypark Stadium for Environment Bay of Plenty's annual e-Day.
Volunteers helping with the project expected the rain to reduce the number of cars that would eventually turn up, but this has not happened yet.

Also some volunteers thought the enormous amount of waste that came in last year might have been a result of people previously hoarding electronic waste.
e-Day is an annual collection that is carried out all over New Zealand. The only waste accepted at an e-Day is computer related electronic waste, mobile phones and digital cameras. The idea is to prevent as much as possible of this kind of waste going into landfills and to recover materials such as gold, copper and aluminium from them for recycling.
There was no sign of the dreadful traffic congestion that accompanied the 2008 e-Day collection.
