The hunt is on for the most sustainable farms in the region as entrants are sought for the 2010 Bay of Plenty Ballance Farm Environment Awards.
These awards are designed to encourage responsible and sustainable use of the land. Feedback from past entrants suggests the experience of entering the competition is just as valuable as winning. Most report the judging process has caused them to pause and analyse the practices they are carrying out on their farms more closely.
The competition is adjudicated by a team of judges who actually perform a complete peer review of the whole farm, and the systems on it, and look at the management choices that have been made.
For more information about the competition and how to enter it, email [email protected] or phone to request an entry form.
Entries for the Bay of Plenty competition close on October 16.
