An art competition for rural kids is being run by the Livestock Improvement Corporation to promote their calf club website.
LIC has written to all rural schools in New Zealand to invite their students to take part in the competition which calls for them to submit a hand made picture of their pet. The picture can be in any medium or materials the entrant wishes and judging will be in three age-related categories; 5-7 years, 8-10 years, and 11-13 years.
Each category winner will win a prize pack that includes a halter and lead for either a calf or a lamb, and a bag of other goodies. In addition the top 20 artists across all the categories will also receive a pet feeding bottle.
Entries close on September 28 and winners will be announced on October 12.
The calf club website which can be found at www.calfclub.co.nz offers tips on selecting, looking after, and showing pets and gives details of calf club events.
