Mount Maunganui's Coronation Park is set to get a facelift in the coming days as work gets underway to improve visibility into the park.
Work will begin to recontour a large portion of the bund along the park's Maunganui Road frontage.
Coronation Park will undergo a facelift.
Tauranga City Council communications advisor Marcel Currin says some of the trees in the area will need to be removed, 'including a large gum tree, which many people are likely to miss once it is gone”.
Marcel says the tree removal will begin on Wednesday with more trees to be planted next winter.
'The aim for all this is to create a multi-use space and to improve visibility into the reserve.”
The facelift continues the improvements made in the last couple of years in line with the 2006 Reserve Management Plan, says Marcel.
Council is aiming to have the work completed by Labour Weekend as Wheels on Mainstreet has booked the park on October 26.
'Other event holders are already expressing interest in the site.”

That photoshot doesn't look at all like the small pond at Coronation Park it must be somewhere else so suggest you change it so TCC at least deal to the right place !!

Next there will be another board walk around the lake, a kids playground and then they will concrete it from wall to wall like the Strand 'beach front' ... Ops that looks like millions ...
