People wanting to vote in this year's local body elections are running out of time as the deadline closes on Friday.
Enrolments to vote in the elections for local councils, regional councils and district health boards on October 12 this year close on Friday, August 16.
People are being reminded to enrol to vote in the local body elections.
Enrolment Services national manager Murray Wicks says people will only get their voting papers if they are enrolled by Friday.
'If you've been waiting until the last minute to update your details, the last minute is here. Do it now.”
Registrar of Electors has removed more than 70,000 people nationwide from the electoral roll since the start of the enrolment drive on July 1.
In the Western Bay of Plenty, 599 people are currently not enrolled to vote and 2115 people in the Tauranga area are not eligible to vote.
Murray says these people have changed address and not updated their enrolment details.
'That's thousands of people who need to act now and enrol, or they will miss out on getting their local election voting papers sent to them.
'We want everyone who's eligible to be enrolled and ready to have their say,” says Mr Wicks.
People wanting to enrol can go online at elections.org.nz, freetext their name and address to 3676, call 0800 36 76 56 or go to any PostShop.

This is the deadline to ensure you get your voting papers by mail. If, for whatever reason, you miss this deadline, you can still enrol up October 11 and cast a Special Vote

Studies show that better performing companies have women on their boards, council's would be no different
