Western Bay residents are being targeted by a fledgling political party that is calling for the Waitangi Tribunal to be abolished with mass leaflet drops.

One Law for All's Tauranga area coordinator Robbie McGuinness says about 8000 households in Katikati, Te Puke and parts of Tauranga have received the party's leaflets and he was getting alot of support.
The party has attracted about 750 members and is applying for registration, a process acting leader Tom Johnson believes could take six weeks.
'We are well ahead of where we need to be to register (500 membership minimum) and we are finding a lot of people supporting us. It's coming in continually.”
The party's position is that all New Zealanders are treated equally in law, regardless of race, a position he firmly rejects as playing the race card.
'I find it an absolutely puerile comment. We want to have one law for all, that includes everybody. The race card to me is being played by Hone Harawira and the Maori Party who are wanting continuous special privileges.”
The party's initial focus was on the Bay of Plenty and Hawke's Bay, where he says there are a lot of key supporters. The plan is to push it out across the country soon.
Tom says as a new organisation they had a lot of work to do – including appointing a permanent leader – but were already receiving many inquiries from people wanting to stand at the next election.
'The support we are getting is indicative of widespread concern over where current and previous governments have taken us on this issue.”
The party's policies include abolishing the Waitangi Tribunal, abolishing race-based seats and positions in central and local government, and stripping all references to the Treaty of Waitangi from legislation.

I liked it until..

I was quite taken by this leaflet and its proposals until I asked my daughters for their opinion. We are not Maori but they know a lot more than I do about these things and both vehemently denounced this new wanna-be party as intensely racist, the leaflet itself inflammatory and causing an increase of racist attitudes, and the whole thing unbelievably unprofessional. Yes, I do want, hope and pray for an end to racism and for there to be complete equality for all New Zealand's citizens before the law. This is a wonderful country and should remain so with improvements made for all. This, however, is NOT the way and if this becomes a new political party will only result in more tension and upsets.
I totally agree

"... The race card to me is being played by Hone Harawira and the Maori Party who are wanting continuous special privileges." Yes, exactly! couldn't agree more! Good luck to you in your efforts to free NZ from the clutches of pro-maori racism.

What's the difference between this party and the Maori party?......oh yea, nothing!! Maori have been segregating themselves for years with their "hard done by" attitudes

I was all for this party, UNTIL i received the pamphlet and saw their policies. Some i agree with, but others i strongly disagree with.

Can you explain how a party that wants everybody to be equal is racist but a part-race that wants special race based privileges is not racist. I think the supporters of maori race based privileges are the racists.

The tide is beginning to turn at last. We are all sick of the Maori privilege racist policies and want one law for all. I don't think a one-issue party can attract enough votes, but there is always Colin Craig's Conservative Party with exactly the same policies and already making inroads into the two-party old boy network. It is definitely time for a change. Let's claim our democracy back.
