Helen Clark to lecture in Tauranga

Former Prime Minister Helen Clark is presenting a public lecture in Tauranga next month.

The current Administrator of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) will discuss her work as head of the global body that coordinates development strategy globally on August 7 at Baycourt Community and Arts Centre.

Helen Clark will be delivering a lecture in Tauranga next month.

The lecture is being organised by the United Nations Association (Tauranga branch) with the support of the University of Waikato and the Tauranga City Council.

With a budget of over $US5billion a year, the UNDP works in more than 170 countries to empower lives and help nations become more resilient, a statement released by the University of Waikato says.

'It engages with national governments and communities around issues including poverty, democracy, crisis and recovery, environment, HIV/AIDS, empowering women and growing national capacity.”

The UNDP Administrator has the rank of an Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and is often referred to as the third highest-ranking official in the UN.

Helen Clark was appointed to the role in 2009.

Tickets are available through TicketDirect.

I sincerely hope that someone challenges her on the UNs 'New World Order' - Evil lurks down the corridors of the UN and there is very little any of us can do about it - but she could if she desired to put here head on the block - has she that much courage - we live in hope!

Foreign Policy Magazine recently included Ms Clarke in a list of the 500 most powerful people in the world. A true NZ Labour Party talent!

Is this the same person who spent 12 years retarding this country, then got a "job for the boys", with the U.N., excuse me but the only ticket I would purchase to see her, would be one to witness her leaving the country for good.

It is great that Helen has achieved this post, but it is much more important that nations are actually working together in many ways to address poverty and achieve a sustainable world. Judging by some comments, one wonders whether people yearn for the old world in which nations solved their problems by slaughtering each other.
