Mount Maunganui Intermediate music students were ‘excited' this morning as they sat front row for an exclusive performance by Kiwi singer/songwriter Brooke Duff.

The top 10 singles musician performed two songs to the crowd at the Cruise Deck in Mount Maunganui before a quick question and answer with the young aspiring artists.

Mel Osborne, leader of the school's Kiwican programme, says the children were eager to see the singer.

'They were given permission slips and they gave them back the next day,” she says.

Mel says the opportunity will help the students develop their musical skills, and drive to achieve in the industry.

'It will massively influence them,” says Mel.

Brooke's hit, ‘Til the end' debuted at Number 9 on the New Zealand Singles Chart in July 2012. She is currently promoting her new single ‘The Real You'.

Student and keen singer Hannah Jackson was thrilled when she was told Brook would be performing for the school.

Brooke told the children to 'stick with what they love and to continue practising their music”.
