Otumoetai College dominated in the second night of the ASB 2013 Stage Challenge last night, picking up eight awards but missing out on the top spot.

Coming in second in the RAW division with their performance exploring mental illness, the college's group also earned awards in every category, including choreography, performance, soundtrack, drama, stage use and concept.

It was Hauraki Plains College who won first place in last night's show.

Tauranga Girls' College picked up four category awards, but it was Hauraki Plains College who grabbed first place at Baycourt Theatre.

The college explored the ‘Seven Deadly Sins' and they affect teenagers, aiming to encourage the audience to create their own path, daring to dream and become the person they truly want to be.

Event manager Sarah-Jane Phillips says the night was full of fantastic performances that were 'beautiful to watch”.

'Tauranga put on a fantastic show tonight and I was blown away by all the students' talent and hard work! Tonight's performances reflect how Stage Challenge and J Rock are great outlets for youth to creatively express themselves and their values.”

Production Judge David Artis says the winning performance was 'totally wonderful”.

'I thoroughly enjoyed every movement on stage. I got the truth from the story through the expressions in their faces. They had a very clever soundtrack which enhanced a visually stunning performance.”

On Thursday night first-time entrants Papamoa College won the open division with their ‘Live your life' performance.
