Tauranga teachers will gather for a planned protest against the Government's education policies in Mount Maunganui tomorrow.
About 600-700 teachers will attend a union meeting at Baypark at 1.30pm tomorrow to discuss the progress on negotiations for their collective teachers' agreement.
Teachers protest against Novopay in Tauranga.
Following the meeting teachers will bus to Tay Street where they will carry anti-Global Education Reform Movement placards and write messages in the sand.
The teachers were to have marched up Mauao but have respected the iwi decision that it would not be appropriate.
The event is being filmed and full coverage will be on SunLive tomorrow.
Teachers say they are concerned about the direction of the Government's education policies, which they say will destroy New Zealand's highly valued quality public education system.
The Government's agenda includes the introduction of charter schools, competition rather than collaboration in teaching and learning and national standards and league tables.

So they will want to be paid to I bet, the best thing that could happen is that introduction of charter schools, competition rather than collaboration in teaching and learning and national standards and league tables! Th is so over due ... to get some real results in the NZ Education system instead of this mambee pambee stuff. Then add to that the issues of NOVA PAY teachers to much, 14,000 underpaid WOW how many teachers are there lurking around really? Did not think that there would even be that many in total never mind the few underpaid, nevermind the few overpaid. How did it get so high? The figures were from the report by PWC to Joyce, the minister PM Key appointed to sort the mess out. perhaps you should go and look and read it. The pay of teachers should be related to perfornace, as 1/2 the students on average fail (although teachers dont want to tell them that? as it may create a self confidence issue for teachers ...??) then teachers should get 1/2 pay as they are only doing 1/2 their job. Like having a real job in the real world a 50% failure rate would mean that you need to find a new job more suitable to your ability i.e. not to complicated, simple, easy, no thinking required at all.
Who cares, stupid childish teachers.

If teachers want their concerns to be taken seriously, They need to act more responsibly. Jeez teachers, Get a life! Messages in the sand indeed, how childish! Time to get your collective heads out of the sand. Have your union meetings in your own time, not the education time belonging to the kids. and learn to do as you are told by your bosses, they run the education system, you are ONLY there to implement the curriculum .
IWI decision

So the IWI wanted a bit of Koha for a wander up the Mount to have a bit of a moan, I can not see that this lot would have wanted to go up there anyway or even made it up there ...

Hmmmm so what your saying YOGI,CC8 and PLONKER is that if your boss decided to not pay you what your entitled to or short paid you that you would be happy to accept that!! hahahaha! obviously you arent that educated considering you have a lot to say for yourselves! And hellooooooooo if you were really in touch with the real world out there, you will find unemployment isnt caused by students being uneducated but no jobs to apply for since the government keeps making things hard for business's and they end up having to close down. Have you lot even being out and about after 10pm and seen what our society is really like? Best you lot make that a priority in your planner, checkit out..then maybe ignorant people like you will have more understanding of what really goes on. Another words YOU LOT GET A LIFE!! lol

it was your 12 years under a socialist government, that has resorted to someone having to cap spending and TRY and get the country moving, Novapay was signed off by a Labour crew, so you get your head out of the sand and start to realise that we cannot as a country afford to keep paying a welfare dependent society, and opinions are opinions, and everyone is entitled to them.
