Maunganui Rd drivers are being urged to plan ahead with overnight roadworks set to affect traffic later this week.

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) says the northbound lane between Girven Rd at Bayfair and the Golf Rd roundabout will be closed from 8pm to 5am on Wednesday and Thursday.

A detour will be in place for northbound traffic via the Hewletts Rd flyover, Aerodrome Rd, Newton St and Hull Rd before vehicles rejoin Maunganui Rd.

The Hewletts Rd flyover will remain open in both directions throughout the works.

Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time, follow signposted detours and take care when travelling through the area.

NZTA thanked road users for their patience while the work is carried out.
