Athenree Hot Springs and Holiday Park has won a top national industry award.

The business, located near Katikati north of Tauranga, won the Holiday Park Supreme Industry Award at the Holiday Parks New Zealand Awards in Hamilton last night.

It was also named Medium Park of the Year.

Holiday Parks NZ said Athenree’s manaakitanga stood out for the judges.

“Holiday parks are founded in connection with others, and this park goes beyond that,” judges said.

The park, owned and operated by Pete Church and Belinda Rixon-Church and their family, was also recognised for its strong community contribution, continuous improvement environmental programme, and being the largest local employer in its area.

The awards night closed out the Holiday Parks NZ Conference and Expo.

Holiday Parks NZ chief executive Emily Byrne said the awards recognised the dedicated people who kept these businesses “humming” and evolving.
