One of New Zealand’s biggest rock acts is heading to Tauranga as part of a nationwide tour celebrating a milestone album that helped cement its place in the country’s music scene.

Hamilton hard rock band Devilskin will perform at Mercury Baypark’s Stadium Lounge on July 31 as part of its Be Like The River 10th Anniversary Tour.

The six-date tour will see the band play its 2016 album Be Like The River in full, marking a decade since the record debuted at No.1 on the Official New Zealand Albums Chart and earned Gold certification, a media release stated.

The Tauranga show is one of only six headline performances scheduled across Aotearoa, alongside concerts in Christchurch, Dunedin, Hamilton, Palmerston North and Hastings.

Released in 2016, Be Like The River became one of the defining New Zealand rock albums of the decade, earning Devilskin the Aotearoa Music Award for Best Rock Artist in 2017 and helping establish the band as one of the country’s leading live acts.

Since then, the quartet – fronted by vocalist Jennie Skulander and rounded out by bassist Paul Martin, drummer Nic Martin and guitarist Nail – has continued to build a loyal following through relentless touring and a string of successful releases, including its most recent No.1 album, RE-EVOLUTION.

Over the past 15 years, Devilskin has shared stages with international acts including Mötley Crüe, Disturbed, Halestorm, Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators, Airbourne, and Coheed and Cambria.

Joining the band on the anniversary tour will be Auckland two-piece rock outfit The Boondocks.

Opening the tour are rising riff-rock force The Boondocks, hailing from the rugged Āwhitu Peninsula south of Auckland.

Hailing from the Āwhitu Peninsula, bassist and vocalist Scott Parker and drummer Branden Pritchard have developed a reputation as a high-energy live act, supporting bands such as Shihad, Tadpole and Villainy while completing three nationwide tours of their own.

The Tauranga concert is expected to be a highlight for Bay of Plenty rock fans, offering a rare opportunity to hear one of Devilskin’s most celebrated albums performed live in its entirety.

The Be Like The River 10th Anniversary Tour is presented by The Rock and Eccles Entertainment.
