A lane will be closed overnight and a detour in place on State Highway 29A near Ōropi this week for urgent tree removal and vegetation clearing.
The work will be done place near the Ōropi roundabout on Thursday, June 25.
The westbound lane towards Barkes Corner will be closed between 8pm and 5am to allow the work to be carried out safely, NZTA said.
A detour will be in place via Ōropi Rd, Maleme St and Cameron Rd during the closure.
Once the trees have been felled, short periods of stop/stop traffic management will also be required while trees are dragged across the road, the roading agency said.
Further work to chip the felled trees will take place during the day on Friday, between 10.30am and 2.30pm, on the opposite side of the road.
NZTA said a short lane closure will be in place while this is carried out.
Traffic management, including a reduced speed limit, will remain in place for the duration of the works.
Motorists travelling along SH29A on Thursday night are urged to take extra care and follow all traffic management instructions.
