The final overnight roadworks for the 2025-26 maintenance season are set to take place on State Highway 2 in Tauranga over the coming days.
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi has confirmed two remaining maintenance activities before the programme wraps up for winter, with work scheduled across key sections of the city’s road network.
The first will see asphalt resurfacing on Takitimu Drive overnight on Sunday, May 17.
NZTA said work would run from 8pm to 5am and would affect the inside southbound lanes between the Chapel St on-ramp and the Elizabeth St roundabout.
A reduced speed limit would be in place while crews completed the work.
Further resurfacing would then take place across sections of SH2 along Maunganui Rd and the Tauranga Eastern Link.
These works would be carried out over three nights from Monday, May 18, between 7pm and 6am, covering areas between Spur Avenue and the Sandhurst overbridge.
Temporary traffic management, including lane closures and reduced speed limits, would be in place during the night works, with motorists advised to plan ahead and allow extra travel time.
NZTA said the work marked the conclusion of its summer maintenance programme and thanked road users for their patience over the season.
The agency will return later in the year with a new programme of roadworks and maintenance across the Bay of Plenty.
