Overnight roadworks are continuing in Takitimu Drive in Tauranga as NZ Transport Agency focuses on the northbound side of the state highway for resurfacing.
Roading crews are working on the highway between 8pm and 5am to resurface SH2 between the 11th Ave on-ramp and the Elizabeth St roundabout.
The work involves removing the existing asphalt road surface and reconstructing a new one. Noise and vibration can be associated with this type of work, NZTA said.
“Line marking is reinstated once the surface has been replaced.”
What to expect:
Shift 2: Tuesday, March 17
Crews will work on both northbound lanes between the Elizabeth St roundabout and the 11th Ave off-ramp. There will be lane switches and the Waihī Rd on-ramp to SH2, as well as the Koromiko St/Waihī Rd on-ramp, will be closed. Detours will be in place via 11th Ave, Cameron Rd and Elizabeth St, returning traffic to SH2.
Shifts 3 and 4: Wednesday and Thursday, March 18 and 19
The final two nights of work will involve closing the northbound exit ramp to the Elizabeth St roundabout. With this ramp unavailable, traffic will continue along SH2 to the Chapel St off-ramp before heading back up toward Cameron Rd.
