Two people reported missing after a landslide in Welcome Bay have been found,

Police said they were recovered from a house on Welcome Bay Road, Papamoa, this evening after it was extensively damaged by a landslide early today.

"Both people are sadly deceased," police said in a statgement.

"Police are working to support their loved ones at this incredibly difficult time."

The deaths have been referred to the Coroner.
