Power was restored to the remaining properties in and around Judea, Tauranga, just before 4pm today, says a Powerco spokesperson.
"This followed a power outage that initially affected 835 customers at 11.19am today.
"A total of 665 customers’ power was restored by 12.30pm, with the remaining 170 reconnected after damaged equipment was repaired."
Power was out for more than 800 properties in Tauranga this morning due to sparking power lines in Collingwood St, which was reported to Powerco by Fire and Emergency NZ.
A Birch Ave worker said power was out to his workplace and it looked like the outage had impacted the whole street.
“I was in a meeting and the room went black.”
Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesperson said a pole isolator had blown and it is quite likely the cause of the power outage.
“It has been left with the Power Authority.”
According to Powerco, power went off in the Judea area at 11.19am and is affecting 835 properties.
A site investigation is under way and Powerco estimates the supply will be back on around 3pm.

Funny, we saw it happen! So nothing to do with the fella with the chain saw and a tree on Collingwood Street?
