Police can now release the name of the man who died in a crash in the Bay of Plenty last month.

Mapu Titoko, 54, of Whakatāne, died after single-vehicle crash on June 8.

The crash happened on Station Rd near Butler Rd, Poroporo, in the Eastern Bay of Plenty around 10pm.

Three other people were taken to hospital in a serious condition.

Two people were taken to Tauranga Hospital by helicopter and one was airlifted to Waikato Hospital.

In a statement, police said enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
