Giant rainbow slide ($5 per ride, or three rides for $10); Kombi train rides ($5 per ride); free face painting, and fairy floss and kettle corn. Please note if the weather is wet, this event will be postponed to 19 and 20 July.

Check out Glow Kids - Silent disco and dance. Glow Kids is a fun and family-focused evening activation on The Strand (grass area opposite Hamilton Street), designed to engage tamariki aged 13 and under through a combination of immersive lighting, interactive dance classes and silent disco experiences. The short high-energy 15-minute dance sessions designed for tamariki are run by local studio Precision Dance, encouraging movement and confidence. Bring a blanket to sit on, wrap up warm, and enjoy this feel-good Disney classic about the unlikely Jamaican bobsled team that captured hearts at the Winter Olympics.  Please note: Due to the weather forecast, this event originally scheduled for Friday, July 11 has been moved to Saturday, July 12. Have you been to the Lion and Tusk Museum yet? It's open today from 10am - 3pm at Unit 4, 14 Portside Dr, Mount Maunganui. Appreciate the attempt but that could hardly be called a carnival. Let's aim higher Tauranga - close the road for the weekend, roll out the winter themed food & drink, have a parade, performers, competitions, rides, free buses.

A slide, face painting and popcorn stand squeezed into the space of a netball court is hardly worth leaving the house for.
