True blue conservatives

Conservative Party leader Colin Craig is talking about moving the political party's head office to Tauranga following his visit on Friday.

While he is joking about shifting here, the new force in conservative politics says he has always been a big fan of the Western Bay and loves the support the party is getting including a packed house meeting of over 100 on Friday.

'I don't know if it's the demographics of Tauranga or just the view of the people here, but we are getting a lot of support from Tauranga.”

Colin says the party's 'honest” approach, expressing many views held by ordinary New Zealanders, was winning strong support.

'We are finding a lot of support – from National and Labour people who joining up. Some of them think that these party's core values have been eroded and like what we stand for.

'We are saying the old culture of entitlement needs to end. You can't rely on the state to look after you – everybody needs a job and be able to earn their own living.”

Colin is optimistic of the party's chances of getting five per cent of the party vote next election, after attracting 2.65 per cent last election less than seven weeks after the party was formed.

He says the party's pledge for equal rights for all New Zealanders and to end Treaty of Waitangi claims has generated strong support.

'We are saying a lot of the things many people have been thinking for a long time.

'It's time to stop dividing New Zealand. We are committed to one standard of citizenship and support common ownership by all New Zealanders of the foreshore, seabed and waterways.”

We don't need his kind of red neck weirdo right wing hate politics here. Send him back to where he came from.

Trying on the Don Brash line of politics. This emotive campaigning to the uneducated will bring out the extremists that's for sure. Isn't that what National sold to the right whingers before? And have they delivered??. No they haven't. But they - and other more recent governments - have accomplished a lot toward healing the divisions created by early governments. Do we want that progress to be undone?. Our differences and our ability to work them out should be something to be proud of. Craigs type of politics is the real divisive stuff.

I think thatr is what he hopes that you will do with him, he comes from Wellington. Perhaps you would liek to "rethink" that stratergy somewhat more/better. Otherwise he gets what he wants and of course he deserves to for speaking the truth of it.

Think before you type

There is a difference between being conservative and neo-conservative. So dgk keep you left wing hate politics to yourself, I'll stick to the middle of the spectrum.

nor do we need left wing "commo comments" like yours, unfortunately according to democracy, everyone is entitled to an opinion, so rightly or wrongly, if you do not like what he has to say, do not listen.
