Bright spark's six legged robot

Being named a bright spark is nothing special to Otumoetai College Year 13 student Baden Parr but making the finals of the Bright Sparks Award definitely is.
Otumoetai College Year 13 student Baden Parr.

The 18-year-old was delighted to be named among the four finalists for his age group in the national electronics competition for his hexapod robot.

'I didn't think I had much chance of making the finals after only finding out about the competition with five days before it closed.”

Baden hopes the success of building his six-legged walking robot from scratch is the start of a successful career in the field.

Since being a young boy Baden has built everything from go karts and robots to animating models and making models.

He has been accepted to study a 3D animation and modelling degree at Lifeway College next year. To see all the Bright Sparks finalists entries go to www.brightsparks.org.nz
