Fire in Ōpōtiki now contained

A large vegetation fire in the Ōpōtiki area has now been contained, says a Fire and Emergency NZ spokesperson.

Fire and emergency services were notified of the vegetation fire at 12.40pm on Monday.

The FENZ spokesperson says the vegetation fire covered two hectares.

"One helicopter, one fire truck and one support vehicle attended the scene."

The spokesperson says that no structures or people were at risk and no injuries have been reported.
