On your marks, get set ... campaign! The race for Election 2023 is on.

There are now six weeks to go until the election which is on October 14.

Yesterday was the last sitting day of the 53rd Parliament and all parties now are in campaign mode.

Most parties have been releasing policies already - National recently unveiled its tax plan, while the Greens have pledged a $750 million fund to protect towns and cities from flooding.

The Labour Party which was previously still in government until parliament adjourned yesterday, will now be turning up its campaign.

To look at who's promising what, check out RNZ's guide to party policy.

The latest poll results show Labour dropping in support while National and ACT are on course to win the election.
