From today, Monday, August 7, for a period of two weeks, Downer will be undertaking the Annual Water Mains Scouring Program for seven suburbs of Tauranga.

The flushing will be taking place in Pyes Pa, The Lakes Residential, The Lakes Industrial , Welcome Bay, Ohauiti, Hairini and Maungatapu.

"This process is part of our standard maintenance programme to ensure pipes are clean and water flows as intended," says a Tauranga City Council spokesperson.

"Scouring may cause a temporary discoloration of your water. Please run an outside tap for 5-10 minutes until the water clears.

"If you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Tauranga City Council at any time on 07 577 7000."

Watermain upgrades are underway in the following areas: 

Gate Pā

• Bongard Street, Wylie Street, Bush Street, Jones Street, Scott Street: completed. 

Greerton

• Argyll Road: works expected to be completed in mid-August.

• Mansels Road: works expected to be completed in mid-August.

• Yatton Road and Roys Road: works expected to be completed in mid-August.

Parkvale

• Alverstoke Road: works expected to be completed in mid-August.

• Henderson Crescent: works expected to be completed in mid-August.

Ōtūmoetai

• Lemon Grove Avenue, Tirinui Crest Road: works expected to be completed in mid-August.

• Whitaker Street: works expected to be completed in mid-August.

• Cherrywood Drive: expected to be completed in mid-August.

• Tollemache Place and Dysart Road: works expected to be completed in mid-August.

• Ngahere Street and Lilac Place: works expected to be completed in mid-August.
