Motorists travelling through Bethlehem next week are being urged to plan ahead.

Overnight resurfacing work on State Highway 2 is set to begin on Sunday.

In a statement, NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) said planned asphalt resurfacing on SH2 at Bethlehem was originally scheduled to start on October 12.

“The work will be carried out overnight between 8pm and 5am across four nights. During that time, the eastbound, city-bound lane of SH2 south of the Moffat Rd roundabout will be closed to traffic.

“Light vehicles will be diverted via Bethlehem Rd, Carmichael Rd, Millers Rd and Ōtūmoetai Rd before rejoining SH2. Heavy vehicles will be detoured via Moffat Rd, SH29 and SH29A.”

NZTA is advising road users to allow extra travel time, follow all signposted detours and take extra care when travelling through the area while the work is completed.
