Did you see a man near Turret Road on Friday night?

This is the question from Tauranga Police who are searching for a man involved in a crash on Friday night.

He was last seen around 7pm Friday June 16 near the estuary around Fraser Street, Tauranga, says a police spokesperson.

"Police along with Coast Guard and Aerocool Rescue Helicopter searched the area last night but were unable to locate him."

Police say Search and Rescue teams have been launched in the area today as the search continues.

"Police are working to ascertain his whereabouts and ensure he is safe.

"The man can be described as around 175 cm tall of solid build, in his mid-20s and of Maori descent.

"If you saw this person or anything that may assist Police in locating him last night around the estuary near Fraser Street/ Turret Road please contact Police on 105 or via 111 and reference file number 230617/9602."
