Local surf life saving clubs at Pāpāmoa and Mount Maunganui are celebrating the 2022/2023 season with awards evenings for their coaches, lifeguards, patrols, officials and supporters.

Mount Maunganui Lifeguard Service held their annual club prizegiving on Saturday, May 13, 'celebrating another fantastic season from our volunteer lifeguards, competitive lifeguards, committee members and parent volunteers”.

'It was a great night coming together to celebrate our clubbies after two years of Covid restrictions,” says a club spokesperson on the Mount Maunganui Lifeguard Facebook page.

Special thanks was expressed to the volunteer trailer drivers, who navigated the roads and the Interislander ferry cancellations and delays, getting the club's gear to and back home from the 2023 SLSNZ Nationals in Christchurch.
