The annual Pay What you Want Tauranga Half Marathon is being held on Sunday April 2, at Fergusson Park.

People are preparing to take on 15km, 10km, 5km and the Matua Mile events.

Of the expected 1400 entrants, over 200 will be part of the Workplace Shout, another wellness initiative to engage employers to 'shout” entry to their staff.

Established in 2005, the Tauranga Half Marathon relaunched in 2018 as New Zealand's first Pay What You Want running event.

To allow for the event to take place, the following road and lane closures will be in place on the day:

Road Closures 6.00am-12.00pm:

Kulim Avenue, Harbour Drive to Bureta Road
Maxwells Road, Habour Drive to Ngatai Road
Fergusson Park, Internal Roadway including Boat Ramp
Tilby Drive, Fergusson Park to Levers Road
Ōtūmoetai Road, Levers Road to Beach Road

Lane closures 7.30am-12.30pm:

Woods Avenue, Levers Road to Beach Road – West side
Harbour Drive, Maxwells Road to Kulim Avenue – South side
Beach Road, Ōtūmoetai Road to Kulim Avenue – South side

Intermittent lane closures for 10–15 minute intervals between 6.00am-11.30am:

Levers Road, top of Tilby Drive to top of Sylvania Drive
Near intersection of Bureta Road and Harbour Drive
Levers Road, Tilby Drive to Woods Avenue – North side

Parking Restrictions: There will be no parking areas available 5.30am-12.30pm:

Woods Avenue, Levers Road to Beach Road – Both sides
Beach Road, Woods Road to Fergusson Park – South side
Levers Road, Tilby Drive to Ōtūmoetai Road – North side
Ōtūmoetai Road, Levers Road to Beach Road – West side
