UPDATE 9.29PM: State Highway 29 is now open.
The road was closed earlier tonight following a two vehicle crash on the Matamata side of the Kaimai Range.
Two people are reported to have been injured.
Police say one person was taken to hospital in serious condition.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
UPDATE 8.11PM: One person has been seriously injured following a crash on State Highway 29.
Emergency services were called to the two vehicle crash on the Matamata side of the Kaimai Range at 6.30pm.
"It appears one person received serious injuries and is being transported by hospital to hospital, and one person received minor injuries," says a police spokesperson.
"The road is blocked and motorists are advised to avoid the area."

Traffic delays are being reported on State Highway 29.
A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline reports that there is a crash in the Matamata side of the Kaimai Range.
The caller reports that incident is near SH28.
A SunLive reader says emergency services have been called to the scene and a rescue helicopter has also landed at the scene.
