One person has died in a single-vehicle crash on Tamatea Arikinui Drive on Friday night.

Police were notified of the crash at about 9.55pm between Bethlehem and Eleventh Avenue.

State Highway 2 was closed southbound between Waihi Road and Eleventh Avenue while emergency services attended the scene of the crash.

Sadly, one person died at the scene.

Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are under way.
