Girls, the perfect opportunity to update your wardrobe is here.

Women are being invited to Envirohub's Clothing Swap and Sale this evening from 6pm to 8pm at Envirohub, 31B Glasgow Street.

Participants are invited to bring five of their own items to swap, which must be clean and in good condition.

An event spokesperson says they can then swap their clothing with other clothing on the racks.

'Extra clothing has been sourced thanks to the help of Melanie and Turning Point Trust, and if you still want more after you've done all your swaps, there will be good quality items available for a $2 koha per item.”

The good vibes don't end there, as all funds raised will be donated to the Cyclone Gabrielle relief fund.

'This swap will focus on women's clothing, and all sizes are invited to join us.”

Attendees will be met with drinks and nibbles which are free of charge, thanks to the team at New World Gate Pa.

'We've also got you covered with huge mirrors so you can check out the new look and get your selfie on in our green room, so grab your girls and head on down.

'The event is running from 8pm to 6pm but get in early for the best swaps.”

The clothing swap initiative is part of the larger 'Sustainable Backyards” programme, which spans across the Bay of Plenty.

'Textile waste is one of New Zealand's fastest growing waste streams with more than 220,000 tonnes ending up in landfills each year.

'We need to change our approach on how we buy our clothes. Clothing swaps, op shopping or making your own clothing is a far more sustainable way to be fashionable, and it's fun! It is inspiring to see our younger generation getting on board with a more sustainable approach to their fashion.”
