A man has died in Waikato Hospital following a single motorcycle crash.

Emergency services responded to calls of a motorcycle hitting a tree on Maeroa Road in Hamilton about 7.20pm on Saturday night.

The rider was taken to hospital in critical condition, and sadly passed away in the early hours of this morning.

An investigation into the circumstances of the crash is underway.
