State Highway 29, Kaimai Range is now open.

According to a Waka Kotahi spokesperson, "multiple fallen trees" came down across the highway following the weather overnight.

"Take care when driving through this area, as some debris may remain," says the spokesperson.

"There will be one lane open in each direction under contraflow and a temporary speed limit while PowerCo undertakes vital repairs."

Following Cyclone Gabrielle, there are multiple other road closures in place. Road users are encouraged to plan ahead and use the Waka Kotahi Journey Planner to check the status of roads.
