SH29 reopens following two-vehicle crash

Update, 8.55pm: State Highway 29 has reopened, following a crash between a car and a campervan earlier.

Diversions have been in place while emergency services attended the scene.

SH29 between Omanawa Road and Ruahihi Road is now open.

Update, 5.22pm: State Highway 29 is closed, following a two-vehicle crash between a campervan and a car.

Diversions are in place.

Northbound Traffic: Turn right onto McLaren Falls Road, turn right onto Peers Road, turn left onto Omanawa Road, turn right back onto SH29.

Southbound Traffic: Turn right onto Cambridge Road, continue onto Moffat Road, turn left onto SH2, turn left Wairoa Road, turn left onto Crawford Road, continue onto Poripori Road, turn right onto SH29.

Earlier, 4.42pm: Emergency services are responding to a serious two-vehicle crash on State Highway 29 in the Kaimai range which is blocking the highway.

Police were alerted to the crash between a car and a camper van on SH29 between Omanawa Road and Ruahihi Road about 4.30pm.

Initial indications are one person may be injured.

The crash is blocking the road, so motorists are advised to avoid the area, expect significant delays and take an alternate route.
