UPDATE 7.20pm: State Highway 30 near Onepu Springs Road is reopen following a crash earlier this afternoon.

"Police thank motorists for their patience," says a police spokesperson.

"Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing."

EARLIER 3.27: State Highway 30 near Onepu Springs Road is closed.

A Waka Kotahi New Zealand Transport Agency spokesperson says the road was blocked following a crash in the area.

"Expect delays," says the spokesperson.

"Follow directions of emergency services on scene."

A police spokesperson emergency services were notified of the crash at about 3.10pm.

"Initial indications suggest one person has received moderate injuries," says the police spokesperson.

"Police ask motorists to avoid the area and delay travel if possible.

"Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are underway."
