State Highway 25 in the Thames-Coromandel area is now open.

The road has been closed since Wednesday following a rockfall which came down and blocked both lanes of the highway.

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency reports the highway is open.

However, SH25A remains closed after it was washed out during heavy rain and flooding in the past week.

It will be some time before this highway is up and running again.
