A group of young Bay of Plenty entrepreneurs are putting their innovative products on sale in Papamoa this weekend.
The young students will be selling their products created through the Young Enterprise Scheme during a special Trade Day from 9am – 3pm on Saturday at Palm Beach Plaza.
Otumoetai students Callum Hughes, Bradley Fulcher, Cohen Nicholls, Georgina Read and Ethan Cooke will sell their product Tomoli at the trading day on Saturday.
The Young Enterprise Scheme is a learning programme offering students the opportunity to create a business and run it for a year.
On Saturday, most of the Young Enterprise companies from around the region will have their products for sale at stalls inside the plaza complex as part of the course's requirements.
A number of young companies experiencing local success will attend and compete for the People's Choice and Most Sales awards.
Otumoetai College group Tomoli Enterprises will be selling their saucy creation - a blend of tomato and aioli.
The group's sauce is attracting huge attention from across the North Island and is flying off the shelves at the Good Food Trading Company. Their first two batches of 500 sold out within weeks of the product becoming available.
Marketing and finance director Bradley Fulcher says they are looking forward to the trade day.
'It's another fantastic opportunity to get Tomoli out their further and interact with people to talk to them about our product and story.
'We are hoping to sell as many as we can, as well as doing our best to get the people's vote for best stall.
'It would be awesome to be recognised as the stall that people really loved.”
Tomoli's main competition, Tauranga Girls' College group Tiger Enterprise, has been selling their product at Baywave in Mount Maunganui.
Their Tiger Multi-bag, an oil cloth bag inspired by a paper bag in the way it rolls down and fastens with Velcro, has a waterproof lining inside to make it machine washable.
The groups are all competing to represent the region at the Young Enterprise National Awards in Wellington later this year.
Check out what they have to offer this Saturday between 9am – 3pm.
