Significant delays on State Highway 2

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency says the works are not able to be carried out at night.

Significant delays are expected on State Highway 2 this Wednesday.

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency says delays are expected between Waihī to Ōmokoroa at the Morton Road roundabout site.

"Drivers should avoid travelling this route if possible, or anticipate a longer journey," says a spokesperson for the roading agency.

"Stop/Go traffic management will be in place at SH2 / Morton Road and is required while crews undertake chipsealing and concrete work.

"This is expected to take most of the day, weather permitting, and is unable to be completed at night.

"The crew will be monitoring queues and ensuring both lanes are open when breaks allow.

"Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency thanks road users for their understanding while these important works take place."

NZTA says many of the above works are dependent on a number of factors, particularly weather, and may be postponed at short notice.
