State Highway 25A between Kopu to Hikuai will remain closed overnight tonight, and will reopen beginning tomorrow, January 18, under limited hours.

"The road will reopen daily under stop/go traffic management from 7am to 7pm, and close again each night between 7pm and 7am until further notice," says a Waka Kotahi spokesperson.

"Plan ahead and expect delays."

This comes as the Coromandel continues its recovery following the aftermath of Cyclone Hale, which caused "flooding and numerous slips" across the Coromandel Peninsula.

"There are numerous cracks we need to understand what is happening before we allow road users through this area," says regional manager for maintenance and operations, Rob Campbell.
