Due to an earlier fallen tree, SH25 was blocked to both northbound and southbound traffic near Waikawau Valley Rd, north of Te Mata on Sunday morning.
Motorists are advised to continue exercising caution in the area and pass the scene with care.
Update, 12.45pm: State Highway 25 is now open following an earlier tree fall blocking the highway.
"Contractors are en route to further assess the tree," says a Waka Kotahi spokesperson.
"Please continue to exercise caution in the area and pass with care."
Earlier, 11.25am: State Highway 25 between Thames and Coromandel is blocked due to a fallen tree across the highway.
Motorists are advised to expect delays while the tree is removed and pass the scene with care.
"Due to a fallen tree, SH25 is blocked to both northbound and southbound traffic near Waikawau Valley Rd, north of Te Mata," says a Waka Kotahi NZTA spokesperson.
"Follow directions of the emergency services at the scene."
An earlier slip on SH25 has been cleared overnight and the road reopened around 3am under a 50km per hour temporary speed limit.
