One person is critically injured following a motorcycle crash at Whakamarama on Saturday evening.

"Police were advised of a motorcycle crash at 9.30pm," says a police spokesperson.

"The motorcyclist was reported to be critically injured."

There were cordons in place at the intersections of Barrett Road/SH 2 and Barrett Road/Old Highway while emergency services attended the scene. Traffic was diverted through Youngson Road.
